Water & Fertigation

Without water and fertilizer, a plant cannot grow. But too much is not good either. How does a plant ensure sufficient water and nutrition uptake? This training covers basic concepts that play a role in water uptake and fertigation of a plant.

If you use solid fertilizers, you usually dissolve them in water. The solid fertilizer splits into ions. Ions have an electric charge. When plants absorb an ion, this affects the pH.

What do you learn?

In this accessible and practical training, lasting 2 half days, we teach the basic concepts of watering and fertilizing a crop. We also look at the importance of the right nutritional recipe for each crop. For example, you will learn about pH and EC and how to measure them. Concepts such as molecule, ion, water absorption, osmosis, nutrients and deficiency are discussed and various examples and exercises are offered.

The result

After 2 half days, participants know the most important basic concepts and how water and nutrient uptake of a plant is regulated. They also know the importance of the right nutritional recipe.

With knowledge about water and fertigation, employees are more involved in the crop and that motivates and enthuses them in their daily work. At the end of the training, the participant will receive a certificate.

This basic training can be followed as an individual training or as preparation for an expert training on fertilization, for example: Fertilization in Horticulture

How does it work?

Learning is best done when you link words to situations. That is why we use various examples and exercises and go into the greenhouse. You will learn the most important basic concepts in two half-days. The design of the training is a very effective way to learn a lot in a short time.
