Strawberry: Ripe for Digitization

Collaboration for a Digital Breakthrough in Greenhouse Strawberry Cultivation

Greenhouse strawberry cultivation in the Netherlands faces increasing challenges: rising costs, changing regulations, and a growing demand for sustainable production. At the same time, digital technologies offer new opportunities to optimize cultivation. The project “Strawberry: Ripe for Digitization” aims to accelerate this digital transformation.

In this project, Delphy, Hoogendoorn, and Royal Berry join forces to help build a future-proof strawberry sector. By combining strategic cultivation planning, autonomous climate and irrigation control, and integrated data exchange, the project aims to boost productivity, improve resource efficiency, and enhance climate resilience.

Delphy provides the QMS Strawberry system for strategic and tactical crop planning. Hoogendoorn implements intelligent algorithms for autonomous climate and irrigation control. Royal Berry offers its greenhouses as a demonstration site for integration and real-world validation of the technologies.

The project runs from August 1, 2024, to June 30, 2026, and is co-funded by the European Union. This collaboration accelerates innovation and helps make advanced digital solutions more accessible across the greenhouse sector.
