Salinity RoadMap-Egypt
Salinity RoadMap-Egypt project aims to deliver a nationally owned, evidence based roadmap for salinity management that connects technical solutions with policy frameworks and unlock market opportunities for Dutch companies.
Egypt faces significant agricultural challenges due to soil and water salinity, impacting food security and rural livelihoods. Salinity threatens agricultural productivity and sustainability in Egypt, particularly in the Nile Valley and Delta. Intensive farming practices and high fertilizer use contribute to soil salinity. Water scarcity limits freshwater availability for leaching salts, exacerbating the issue. Within this context, the Salinity Roadmap Egypt project was initiated to serve as a strategic guide for government institutions, research organizations, private sector actors, and development partners enabling coordinated action to mitigate salinity risks and strengthen the resilience and competitiveness of Egypt’s agricultural sector.
Egypt faces growing challenges with soil and water salinity, which threaten crop productivity and long‑term food security. Together with Dutch partners, Delphy contributes to a strategic initiative to develop a national roadmap for salinity interventions. This roadmap will identify practical solutions, key bottlenecks, and market opportunities where Dutch expertise can make a meaningful impact.
Our Approach
The project brings together field insights, and stakeholders input across Egypt.
Activities include:
- Assessing current salinity challenges and needs
- Developing a practical, multi‑year strategy for salinity management
- Identifying barriers to scaling existing solutions
- Highlighting opportunities for Dutch innovations and partnerships
Our Role
Delphy connects strategic planning with practical application.
We support:
- Evaluation of the statues queue of the saline conditions in Egypt
- Translation the collected data into actionable solutions
- Identification of market and collaboration opportunities in the salinity sector
