CloseCycle

The CloseCycle project started in 2024 and is funded by the Interreg North Sea program. The project’s ambition is to bring partners together to close cycles.
To make it more concrete, local companies and partners will work together to upgrade waste streams and develop valuable end products. End products suitable for agriculture, cities or other specific purposes. In different regions and countries, companies and partners will work together. Together they will evaluate and research existing residual streams, define processes and end products. And test the end products in 13 showcases.
CLOSECYCLE enables more efficient use of residual and urban bio-resources in the North Sea region.
In CloseCycle, 18 partners work together for 4 years (2024 to 2027) towards this goal. Each country has defined a specific focus depending on the existing residual streams. The partners are building territorial biorefinery networks and exchanging experiences and knowledge.
René van Tol, team manager arboriculture and advisor ornamentals at Delphy, is taking the lead in communicating the project. In addition, Delphy will play an important role in testing various local residue-based products on horticultural crops, including potted plants and plants grown in open fields.
Improving the collection and processing of specific regional bioresiduals is also an important issue. Processes being looked at specifically are composting and pyrolysis.
