Phytophthora control requires extra attention this year, due to the emergence of new aggressive fungal variants and their lesser sensitivity to a number of fungicides. The entire process from germination to spread of new spores and infestations can take place within four days. If conditions are optimal for the disease, it can completely devastate a plot of potatoes within two to three weeks.
