Cooperation agreement with the Government of Plateau State, Nigeria, Fruits, and Veggies Global limited

On Wednesday the 3rd of September, at the Potato Europe Exhibition in Lelystad, Delphy signed a cooperation agreement with the Government of Plateau State, Nigeria, Fruits, and Veggies Global limited to develop the potato value chain in Plateau state the biggest potato production region in the whole of West Africa. The Jos Plateau is home to the largest annual potato production area on the African continent with an estimated 300,000 hectares and an average yield of 4-7tons per hectare. Potato plays a very significant role in the local economy and food security of Nigeria.

With the support of the RVO and the Netherlands Embassy in Nigeria, Delphy in close partnership with the Fruit and Veggies Global Limited and the support of the State Government will work towards establishing a Potato Centre of Excellence in Plateau State to improve the knowledge, practices skills and capacities, improve crop yields and the economic livelihood of farmers and stakeholders in the potato value chain. Delphy is joining forces with the Netherlands government, the Nigerian government, and people to boost the local economy and food security in Nigeria.
