International soft fruit network brought together at Delphy ISFC
Last Thursday, June 8, 2023, the second Delphy ISFC Field Day was organized. The event was attended by almost 400 visitors from 25 countries. The conditions were summery with clear weather and 25 degrees temperature. Fortunately there was sufficient refreshment to be found with for instance strawberry smoothies and strawberries with whipped cream, provided by Jan & Birgitte from the Aardbeien Drive-in Uden, and ice creams provided by Haifa North-West Europe. Delphy ISFC Field Day took place at our leading soft fruit (strawberry, raspberry, blackberry and blueberry) research centre: Delphy ISFC.
This international event consisted of three different seminars: Soft Fruit Propagation, Innovative Blueberry and Everbearer Cultivation. The seminars were completed by twelve speakers. In addition, there was a network exhibition where more than 40 leading companies were present. Last but not least: there was a lot of soft fruit to see! Tours in the greenhouse departments were given by the researchers of Delphy ISFC. Various trials with strawberries were shown during the tours. In the outdoor cultivation systems, various strawberry trials (June carrier & everbearers), raspberries (long canes & primocanes) and blueberries were open for visit.
The organization of the Delphy ISFC Field Day can look back on a successful day. Organizing these knowledge and network oriented events would be impossible without support from the soft fruit industry.
