Beekenkamp Verpakkingen innovation partner Delphy ISFC

Investing together in the soft fruit sector

The Beekenkamp Group consists of four divisions: Beekenkamp Plants, Vegetables & Onamentals, Deliflor and Verpakkingen (Packaging). The cultivation of young plants (now 2.2 billion annually) was already started in 1951 in Maasdijk. Beekenkamp Verpakkingen was founded in 1982. First to import and sell fleece, followed by plant cultivation trays and many other products. Beekenkamp Verpakkingen supplies trays, cultivation trays, pots, transport crates; everything specially developed for vegetable plants, soft fruit, flowerbulbs (cultivation and export) and the cultivation of insects. Beekenkamp Verpakkingen exports its products all over the world.

The sustainable production line is located in Belgium. Raw materials for the products are 80% obtained or made from recycled material, including old trays and crates. Sustainability begins earlier in the process. The trays are designed to be light, stackable and/or nestable. The material HDPE and PP is highly recyclable.

Beekenkamp Verpakkingen is continuously working on the innovation of products. The company wants to shape the innovation partnership with Delphy ISFC by exchanging substantive knowledge of the soft fruit sector. It is important for the sector to share knowledge, wishes and ideas from both sides and to develop new, practically applicable products. Beekenkamp wants to invest in this: ‘Together we will take care of a good image of Delphy ISFC for the sector. The hardware is there; the people and the relationships ensure that together we can build something beautiful.

About Delphy ISFC

Delphy Innovative Soft Fruit Centre is the new hotspot of the international soft fruit sector. Delphy ISFC operates as an incubator for knowledge and innovation in soft fruit and also as the ‘living room’ of the sector. In a unique way knowledge development and dissemination are brought together on an international scale. Unique because of the connection with the sector and the cooperation with partners. Knowledge dissemination is the second important factor. This is expressed through international events, knowledge days and other initiatives where research results are shared.

A special initiative to jointly drive innovation in the soft fruit sector are the ‘innovation partners’ of Delphy ISFC. They invest collectively in projects that contribute to a progressive soft fruit sector. The focus of the Delphy ISFC innovation partners is on themes like resilient cultivation, developing new cultivation strategies, optimising the propagation of soft fruit, cultivation under LED light and digitalisation.
